The season’s done, the final goals have been scored, and your netball shoes might be looking (and smelling!) like they deserve a holiday too. But just because the games are finished doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Here are some great things to do once the netball season wraps up:
1. Chill Out
You’ve been running, jumping, and hustling all season – your body deserves a breather! Take some time to rest, sleep in, and enjoy not having to pack your bag in a rush before training.
2. Look Back and Celebrate
Think about the awesome stuff you achieved this season: maybe you scored your first goal, nailed a tricky pass, or just had heaps of laughs with your team. Whatever it was – celebrate it! And don’t forget to thank your coaches, umpires, and parents who cheered from the sidelines.
3. Stay Active (But Make It Fun)
No pressure, no scoreboards – just do the things you enjoy. Go for a swim, ride your bike, try a dance class, or kick a ball around with friends. Staying active in fun ways keeps you fit without even realising it.
4. Keep Those Skills Sharp
You don’t need a whole court to practice! Grab a friend and work on your passing, or set up some cones in the backyard for footwork drills. And hey, a little shooting comp at the local courts is always fun (loser buys ice cream ).
5. Team Time
Netball friends are the best friends. Organise a team BBQ, movie night, or even just a group hangout. The season might be over, but those friendships don’t have to be!
6. Get Excited for What’s Next
Before you know it, trials and preseason will be back. Think about what you’d like to do next year – maybe try a new position, aim for a higher grade, or simply play for fun. Whatever it is, the break is your chance to reset and come back ready to go.
The Wrap-Up
So yes, the netball season might be over… but there’s still plenty to do. Rest up, keep moving, have fun, and stay connected with your teammates. That way, when the whistle blows next season, you’ll be more than ready!
